Solution
A flexible feeder supplies the parts, and 2D robot vision reads position and orientation and passes them to the robot
High-mix plastic injection-molded parts are fed by a flexible feeder, and AIM Vision recognizes the position and orientation of the fed parts. The recognized coordinates are corrected in real time and passed to the robot, which performs the pick-and-place. Feeding, recognition and transfer are tied into a single flow.
- Flexible feeder — feeds several kinds of injection-molded parts on the same equipment.
- 2D robot vision recognition — recognizes the position and orientation of the fed parts.
- Real-time coordinate correction — corrects the recognized coordinates and passes them to the robot.
- Robot pick-and-place — picks and places at the received coordinates.
Results
High-mix injection-molded parts handled on a real production line at a ~2-second cycle time
- Pick-and-place cycle time of about 2 seconds — based on the injection-molded parts shown in the video.
- Several kinds of plastic injection-molded parts are fed and recognized on the same equipment.
- Position recognition and orientation recognition are applied together, so parts are picked according to the pose they lie in.
- Not a demo — a configuration applied as a real production line project.
